WASHINGTON, DC - The Acrylonitrile Group (AN Group), which represents the major North American producers and users of acrylonitrile monomer, has restructured executive management under RegNet Environmental Services (RegNet) of Washington, DC. RegNet specializes in providing strategic support to chemical associations. Robert J. Fensterheim, President of RegNet, will serve as the new AN Group Executive Director and Dale E. Strother of BP Chemicals, Inc. will continue to serve as Group Chairman.

The mission of the AN Group is to facilitate the protection of human health and the environment through all stages of the acrylonitrile product cycle, including manufacture, storage, distribution, use and disposal. The Group has a long history of conducting and communicating research, and advocating sound regulation based on the best available science. "We will continue to take responsible action to meet the increasing expectations of our industry," said Strother, "We believe that Mr. Fensterheim and the RegNet team have the capabilities to help us deliver on this agenda."

Acrylonitrile is a building block chemical used to make acrylic fiber for clothing, blankets, carpeting and other fabrics; rugged plastics for computer and TV housings; and, nitrile rubber for oil-resistant hoses at gasoline stations and under automobile hoods. Members of the AN Group include: Bayer Corporation; BP Chemicals, Inc.; Cytec Industries Inc.; The Dow Chemical Company; DuPont Company; GE Plastics; Solutia, Inc.; and, Sterling Chemicals, Inc.
